Festivities of the Mare de Déu de Loreto 2026 (Duanes de la Mar, Xàbia)

The patron-saint festivities of the Mare de Déu de Loreto are the great summer celebration of the seafaring district of Duanes de la Mar (the port of Xàbia). They take place between late August and 8 September 2026, the main day and local public holiday, with the novena, the bous a la mar, the offering, the seafarers’ procession and the aquatic fireworks display as the grand finale.

Main events

Although the official 2026 timed programme is not yet published (the Ajuntament publishes it in late August), these are the events that recur every year:

  • Novena to the Mare de Déu de Loreto in the Duanes parish (mid-August).
  • Bous a la mar and bull sessions in the port enclosure.
  • Children’s Day with despertà, water games and a float cavalcade.
  • Floral offering to the Virgin.
  • Day of the Santíssim Crist del Mar (7 September): procession and fireworks display with correfoc.
  • 8 September (main day): despertà, solemn eucharist with mascletà, seafarers’ procession through the streets of Duanes and closing aquatic fireworks display.

Practical information

  • Getting there: the port of Xàbia (Duanes de la Mar) is 2 km from the old town; limited parking during the festivities.
  • Tip: the seafarers’ procession and the aquatic fireworks of 8 September are the most crowded moments; arrive early at the port front.
