Festes d’Agost de Xaló 2026 (Sant Domènec)

The great summer festival of Xaló (Jalón) is the Festes d’Agost in honour of Sant Domènec (Saint Dominic of Guzmán), patron of the town. The main day is 4 August 2026, and the festivities run for about twelve days over the first half of August, with a religious-popular and bull-focused programme (they are not Moros i Cristians).

Main events

The official 2026 timed programme is not yet published (the Ajuntament publishes it in late July). These are the events that recur every year:

  • Presentació de festers and opening speech to start the festival.
  • Dia dels Xiquets: water games at the pool, «raspall»/«llargues» and the popular «Cocà» in the square.
  • Trasllat del sant to the church with mascletà and orchestra.
  • 4 August (main day): solemn mass in honour of Sant Domènec, mascletà and orchestra.
  • Dia de les Carrosses: parade of floats, batucada and awards.
  • Nit de Rock and Dia de la Paella / Quintaes.
  • Bous al carrer (heifers and running of the bulls) in the final days.

Practical information

  • Getting there: Xaló is in the Pop valley, via the CV-750, about 15 minutes from Benissa and the AP-7.
  • Tip: combine the festivities with a visit to the wineries and the market of the Xaló valley.
