Mare de Déu Pobra festival in Xaló 2026
2026 dates: 16 to 20 October, according to the Valencian Region tourist office (comunitatvalenciana.com). The main day is Monday 19, because the feast always falls on the third Monday of October. As of 10 October Xaló Town Council has not yet published the 2026 programme, so we don’t give times. What follows is how the official 2024 programme went, as a guide only. Check xalo.org before you go.
The essentials
Xaló’s October patron saint festival honours the Mare de Déu Pobra. Note the name: it’s “Pobra”, not “de la Pobla”, as it is sometimes written.
It combines religious events (novena, mass, flower offering, procession) with festive ones (cocà, paella, correfoc, mascletà and a fireworks display), plus an event very much of its own: the pujà al Benibrahïm, the climb up the mountain with a re-enactment of the meeting with the Tio Canet.

How the 2024 programme went
The 2024 order is a useful guide but may change in 2026. If the same pattern is repeated, Friday would be the 16th and Tuesday the 20th.
- Preceding days: novena to the Mare de Déu Pobra.
- Friday: cocà.
- Saturday: paella and correfoc (fire run).
- Sunday: pujà al Benibrahïm. The climb up the mountain with the re-enactment of the meeting with the Tio Canet; back in the village, the flower offering.
- Monday, day of the Mare de Déu Pobra: mass, pa beneït (blessed bread), mascletà, procession and fireworks display.
- Tuesday: dia del ramellet, with danses (traditional dances) and botifarrà.
Practical tips
- Wait for the official programme for times. Xaló Town Council publishes it; it wasn’t out as of 10 October.
- Monday 19 is the busiest day: mass, mascletà, procession and fireworks.
- For the pujà al Benibrahïm, wear comfortable shoes: it’s a climb up a mountain.
- Correfoc, mascletà and fireworks all mean gunpowder. If you’re with small children or a dog, bear it in mind and keep your distance during the correfoc.
